It's the default values pref that did it. I couldn't see the values for either gain on audio regions or transpose for MIDI regions, and just the pop-up for octaves was visible. All regions on the track are affected by the track parameters. Inspector channel strips: The left channel strip is the channel strip for the selected track.

The right channel strip shows the output for the left channel strip by default, but can also show an aux used by the left channel strip if one exists. So no complaint from me. Second, the "setting" button in the inspector doesn't work.

I would never choose a "Classic Electronic Piano" and It's better with the "legacy" instruments and my own list of instruments. Now, I click on it and nothing happens. Third, the new window fills the screen, and no little arrows appear in the upper right corner with which to resize the window.

Alt is for when you want to use a channel strip setting from a different kind of track not for when you want to see the settings for the type of track you are already on.
